A permanent contract is one that is signed between the worker and the company and does not establish a specific end date. Unlike other types of temporary or internship contracts, which limit the duration or set a specific date on which the contract will end.
Types of permanent contracts
There are 3 types of permanent contracts depending on the type of working day:
Full-time permanent.
Part-time permanent.
Discontinuous permanent.
There are also different relevant specialties:
Permanent contract for people with disabilities.
Permanent contract to support entrepreneurs.
Permanent contract for beneficiaries of the National Youth Guarantee System.
Permanent contract for a young person by micro-enterprises and self-employed entrepreneurs.
Permanent contract for new youth entrepreneurship projects.

Form of permanent contracts
These types of contracts have an official model in the State Public Employment Service.
In general they are usually made in writing and registered with SEPE, but there is the possibility that the contract is made verbally. This is not recommended because if extra clauses, different schedules, discontinuity… were added, proving these circumstances in case of discrepancy would be complicated.
Conversion to permanent contract
Not all permanent contracts are formalized at the beginning of the employment relationship, some are converted. The causes can be the following:
Conversion of an existing temporary contract into a permanent contract. This can be done voluntarily or forced. Forced would be because the contract has been produced in fraud of law or because the worker has been more than 24 months in the same job position with a temporary contract.
Conversion for non-compliance with Social Security obligations. If the worker has not been registered within the appropriate period, automatically, whatever contract they have (as if they have none), the contract will become permanent as a penalty for the company.
