The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an alphanumeric code that identifies your bank account at an international level.

In FacturaDirecta you have a SEPA mandate model and you can archive these mandates for each client. Create an account.

It came into force in the euro area on February 1, 2014.

IBAN structure:

The IBAN looks like this in Spain:

ES00 0000 0000 00 0000000000

For practical purposes, the IBAN adds two letters and two numbers to the 20 digits of your current account number. Those indicated in red.

The two letters correspond to a country code, for example:

  • ES: Spain.
  • GB: United Kingdom.
  • DK: Denmark.
  • DE: Germany.
  • (…).

The two numbers are a control digit that is used to avoid errors and is associated with your bank account.

What is the IBAN for?

The IBAN serves to:

  • Identify your bank account at an international level: this way international transactions and payments between euro area countries are simplified. And they resemble transactions with accounts from the same country.
  • Easily identify the country of the bank account.
  • Reduce banking commissions for international transactions, mainly those carried out between euro area countries.

Keep in mind that Spanish accounts are identified by having 24 digits, but in other countries accounts may have more or fewer digits.

We hope this information is very useful to you.
